120 kg ganja seized, one arrested in Dundigal; interstate peddling ring busted

Hyderabad: Police in Dundigal, along with the SOT Medchal Zone team, busted a major ganja trafficking operation on Saturday and seized 120.17 kilograms of the contraband. One person was arrested while four others, part of an interstate drug ring, are absconding.

The accused, identified as Sagar Pawar (23), a lorry driver from Gulbarga, Karnataka, was caught transporting ganja in a Tata Nexon car from Visakhapatnam to Haryana via Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the vehicle near Exit 5 at Rotary No. 1 in Dundigal around 6:00 pm on June 22.

Upon being stopped, Pawar attempted to flee but was apprehended. During interrogation, he confessed to carrying illicit ganja and revealed its location in the vehicle’s dickey. Police recovered 43 packets wrapped in brown adhesive tape containing ganja.

Based on his statement, police identified four other accused: Devaraj alias Deva alias Sachin (main peddler), Bajrang (receiver from Haryana), and Hanumanth Pawar and Rajkumar (sub-peddlers), all of whom are absconding.

The operation was led under the supervision of DCP Medchal Zone N. Koti Reddy, DCP SOT Cyberabad D. Srinivas, ADCP SOT A. Vishwaprasad, ACP Medchal Ch. Shankar Reddy, Inspector P. Sateesh (Dundigal), and Inspector R. Shyamsunder Reddy (SOT Medchal). Officers involved in the bust were commended and will be rewarded for their efforts.
