Hyderabad: Telangana DGP Shivadhar Reddy told police officers to give equal weight to basic policing and friendly policing. He said that public-friendly steps should not make officers forget their main duty of enforcing the law.

At a meeting with all SPs and Commissioners from Telangana districts, Reddy said that officers had started to rely too much on friendly policing. He told them to restart basic policing work, such as checking vehicles, gathering ground-level intelligence, and community interaction.
He said that peace and order depend on fair work by all officers. “Everyone must stay neutral and act without bias,” he told the gathering.
Reddy made it clear that police should not have any political ties. He said their only goal is to protect people and maintain law and order in the state.
