Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha attends Christmas celebrations, highlights govt support to Christian community

Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha on Wednesday participated in Christmas celebrations in Hyderabad at Logos Gospel Church in Tarnaka–Lalapet. She said the Telangana government was extending strong support to the Christian community under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

The Deputy Mayor attended the Christmas celebrations in Hyderabad along with TTUC State president Mothe Shobhan Reddy. During the programme, she took part in prayers, cut the Christmas cake, and extended “Merry Christmas” greetings to Christian brothers and sisters.

Addressing the gathering, Mothe Srilatha said Christmas symbolised love, peace and tolerance. She said these celebrations promoted brotherhood among people and should be celebrated with joy and unity.

She said the Telangana government had launched several welfare initiatives for the Christian community. For example, she cited the allocation of funds for the construction of Christian community buildings. Christmas celebrations in Hyderabad see many citizens benefit from such initiatives. Additionally, the government releases special funds during festivals and provides financial assistance to economically weaker Christian families.

The Deputy Mayor said the Telangana government respected all religions equally. During the Christmas celebrations in Hyderabad, it remained committed to the welfare and development of the Christian community. Several prominent personalities, representatives of Christian organisations, and believers attended the programme.
