Deputy CM Bhatti explained industrial land conversion policy

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday explained the state’s industrial land conversion policy after the cabinet meeting. He said the previous BRS government approved conversions without a policy or cabinet consent. Moreover, he noted that those decisions helped only a few individuals. He also confirmed that the government would soon release full details of past conversions.

The Deputy Chief Minister stressed that the present administration did not take decisions for personal gain. Instead, it introduced a transparent plan to improve Hyderabad’s environment and raise state revenue. Furthermore, the policy evolved through discussions with senior officials and stakeholders. After detailed scrutiny, the cabinet cleared the final framework.

Industrial land conversion policy focuses on transparency and pollution control

Public welfare, he said, guided every government action. In addition, he clarified that the state had no plan to impose extra taxes on citizens. However, the government must still raise income responsibly. Under the new policy, industries along 80-foot roads can convert land at 50 percent of the Standard Operating Rate. Consequently, increased conversion activity would strengthen revenue.

Nacharam, Moula Ali, Uppal, Jeedimetla, Balanagar and Kukatpally once stood outside Hyderabad as dedicated industrial zones. Over time, the city expanded around them, placing residential neighbourhoods next to active industrial belts. As a result, pollution concerns intensified and created the need to move these units beyond the Outer Ring Road.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the new framework sought to prevent Hyderabad from facing pollution levels seen in Delhi. According to him, the industrial land conversion policy now offers a clear and transparent path to reduce pollution risks and support planned growth.
