Minister promises model development of Danavaigudem girls’ Gurukulam

Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has announced a ₹3.8 crore upgrade to the TSWR girls’ Gurukulam at Danavaigudem in Khammam. He said the goal is to develop it into a model residential school with improved infrastructure and academic support.

On Wednesday, the Minister laid the foundation stone for the restoration works. District Collector Anudeep Durishetty and Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt were also present. The state sanctioned the funds after last year’s floods from the Munneru river caused severe damage to the campus.

Reddy said the funds will cover earth-filling in low areas, internal concrete roads, a compound wall, a waiting hall, and generator installation. He asked officials to complete the compound wall urgently and start earth-filling work at the same time.

Focus on girl education and sports facilities

The Minister urged the Collector to consider setting up a cricket ground if students request one. He also called for a plan to build full sports infrastructure. “Girls must be encouraged to succeed in sports. We are ready to provide whatever is needed,” he said, referring to India’s recent women’s cricket victory.

Reddy said that every rupee must benefit students directly. He recalled that the PSR Trust had earlier donated furniture to the school and assured further support from the government.

Addressing students, he urged them to set life goals, work hard, and take care of their parents. He promised to make Danavaigudem Gurukulam a model school for the state.

Accountability and quality in school development

Collector Anudeep Durishetty credited the Minister for securing funds and stressed quality in every project. He instructed the school principal to monitor works closely and send regular updates. The administration will also propose building a volleyball court and equipping science labs.

Commissioner Sunil Dutt told officials to inspect Gurukulam schools frequently and check the quality of food served to students.

Among those who attended the event were Additional Collector Dr. P. Sreeja, Civil Supplies Officer Chandan Kumar, Agriculture Officer Pullayya, Horticulture Officer Madhusudan, Irrigation SE Venkateshwarlu, R&B SE Yakob, Khammam RDO Narasimha Rao, College Principal Vijayadurga, Education Department EE Buggayya, and other public representatives.
