DA fixed at 17.651% for power employees in Telangana

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has fixed the Dearness Allowance (DA) at 17.651% for employees, artisans, and pensioners of power utilities, with effect from July 1, 2025. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka approved the proposal following a review of the Consumer Price Index and prevailing market prices. This decision highlights how Telangana fixes DA to align with economic indicators.

The revised DA will benefit a total of 71,387 individuals working across TG TRANSCO, GENCO, SPDCL, and NPDCL. The hike covers regular employees, technical artisans, and retired staff, and will add a monthly financial burden of ₹9.39 crore on the power utilities. Clearly, Telangana fixes DA to balance employee welfare with financial responsibility.

Utility-wise break-up of beneficiaries

TG TRANSCO: 3,036 employees, 3,769 artisans, 2,446 pensioners

GENCO: 6,913 employees, 3,583 artisans, 3,579 pensioners

SPDCL: 11,957 employees, 8,244 artisans, 8,552 pensioners

NPDCL: 9,728 employees, 3,465 artisans, 6,115 pensioners

As part of routine biannual adjustments, the DA and Dearness Relief (DR) are revised every January and July to offset inflation’s impact on employees’ pay and pensioners’ benefits. This adjustment process is a regular instance of how Telangana fixes Dearness Allowance to accommodate economic changes.
