Cyberabad police bust fake call centre in Bachupally, nine arrested

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police dismantled a fake call centre operating out of a rented villa in Bachupally and arrested nine individuals for defrauding victims in India and the United States.

The gang posed as customer service agents for platforms like PayPal, Geek Squad, and major credit card firms. They sent phishing emails with fake helpline numbers and, upon receiving calls, used scripted conversations in English to deceive victims into installing remote access tools such as AnyDesk.

Once connected, the accused extracted sensitive banking information from the victims.

All nine accused hail from Kolkata, West Bengal, and were brought to Cyberabad on promises of high salaries, commissions, and free housing.

Police seized 22 mobile phones, 10 laptops, multiple headsets, and VOIP calling infrastructure from the site.
