CS orders strict industrial fire safety checks statewide

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao ordered strict industrial fire safety checks across Telangana following the recent accident at Sigachi Industries.

He reviewed the actions taken so far at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat on Thursday. Senior officials briefed him on ex gratia payments to families of deceased workers and the progress of related court cases.

The Chief Secretary directed departments to prepare a comprehensive manual on industrial fire safety and preventive protocols. He said clear guidelines will help prevent such incidents in future.

Joint teams to monitor industrial fire safety compliance

He instructed officials to form joint inspection teams at both the state and district levels. These teams will include Revenue, Police, Industries, Labour, Health, Fire Services and Pollution Control Board officials.

The teams will conduct regular inspections in large, medium and small-scale industries. They will upload findings on an online dashboard for continuous monitoring.

According to the Chief Secretary, coordinated inspections will improve industrial fire safety compliance. He also directed departments to conduct periodic safety audits.

Further, he asked officials to organise training programmes for workers on safety standards and emergency response. He stressed that authorities must take firm action to avoid the recurrence of such accidents.

Special Chief Secretaries Arvind Kumar, Sanjay Kumar and Dana Kishore attended the meeting. Fire Services Director General Vikram Singh Mann, Sangareddy Collector Praveenya, FCDA Commissioner Shashank and Pollution Control Board Member Secretary Ravi were also present.
