Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar on Friday condemned recent incidents in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh where parents poisoned their children and ended their lives.
Reacting on social media platform X, Sajjanar referred to the Kalwakurthy incident in Nagarkurnool district. A distressed mother fed poison-laced food to her children. She and her daughter died, while her son remained in critical condition.
In another case from Andhra Pradesh, a father poisoned his three children before taking his own life. Sajjanar said such acts destroyed the very meaning of parenthood.
‘Face hardship, don’t destroy young lives,’ Sajjanar says
Expressing deep anguish, Sajjanar said children who should have welcomed the New Year instead lost their lives forever. According to him, hands meant to feed and protect turned into instruments of death.
Questioning the mindset behind such acts, he asked how innocent children could know that poisoned food awaited them. He also asked how they could sense danger from those they trusted most.
Sajjanar said hardships, however severe, demanded courage and resilience. He called the killing of children an unforgivable crime and an act of cowardice.
Emphasising his message, he said suicide never solved problems. Instead, it betrayed those who depended on parents for safety and care.
Appealing to people in distress, Sajjanar urged them to pause and seek help. He said those who had the strength to die also had the strength to live and fight.
He ended with a firm message: choose life, fight on, and never run away from responsibility.
