Court bars media from linking Bandi Sanjay to case involving son

Hyderabad: A civil court in Hyderabad issued a court order on media coverage in a case involving the son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar.

The court barred media organisations from linking Bandi Sanjay Kumar to the case.

It restrained digital media channels, satellite television channels and social media platforms from publishing related content.

According to the directions, media organisations cannot publish or broadcast defamatory content connected to the matter.

Social media platforms were also barred from sharing such material.

Court order on media restrains platforms

The court directed media platforms to remove content already published or circulated regarding the case.

It also instructed channels and social media platforms not to mention Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s name in relation to the case involving Bandi Bageerath.

The court described the order as a blanket injunction.

According to the court, the order aims to protect the dignity, privacy and legal rights of the concerned parties.

The court also said the order would help prevent media trials and sensational reporting.

It warned that any violation of the directions would invite action under the Contempt of Courts Act and other applicable laws.
