Hyderabad: Excise and Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Thursday said a Congress victory in the Jubilee Hills by-election was certain, and accused BRS leaders, including K.T. Rama Rao, of resorting to “desperate and degrading” language out of fear of defeat.
Speaking at a meeting with voters from his native Kollapur constituency, now settled in Jubilee Hills, the Minister said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s administration was focused on development and welfare in line with public expectations. He claimed the Congress government had already implemented the six guarantees within two years of taking office.
Jupally criticised former CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao for pushing the state into debt. “KCR borrowed ₹8 lakh crore, and now the Congress government pays ₹75 crore annually just in interest,” he said. He condemned KTR’s remarks against the Chief Minister as “cheap and bankrupt.”
He alleged the KCR family had “destroyed democracy, looted thousands of crores, and ruined the state,” and said they had no right to seek votes after misgoverning Telangana.
Despite financial constraints, Jupally said the Congress government was fulfilling its promises and deserved voter support in Jubilee Hills. He appealed to Kollapur-origin voters to not only vote for Congress candidate Naveen Yadav but also campaign door to door on his behalf.
He expressed confidence that Congress would win the bypoll and go on to retain power in the next Assembly elections.
TPCC spokesperson Satyam Srirangam and senior Congress leader Dandu Narasimha were also present.
