Hyderabad: Congress veteran and Government Adviser Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Wednesday declared that the party would hoist its flag over Kamareddy Municipality. He voiced full confidence in Congress winning the upcoming civic elections.
He addressed a strategy meeting at Kings Convention Hall on Siricilla Road, Kamareddy. The session brought together senior leaders, contesting candidates, and functionaries from all 49 wards. Shabbir Ali unveiled a local manifesto and offered tactical guidance. He said the campaign would focus on civic development and people-first governance.
Shabbir targets rivals, promises civic overhaul
Shabbir Ali accused the sitting MLA and opposition leaders of vanishing from public life for two years. He criticised their return just ahead of the elections. He also demanded transparency in the controversial transfer of a government college land parcel to a private party. Additionally, he called for accountability on allegations involving the sale of a Congress MLC ticket.
The manifesto laid out key civic upgrades. These included wider internal roads, a modern underground drainage system, and household-level water access under Mission Bhagiratha. It also promised improved government hospitals and the transformation of public schools into ‘Amma Model Schools’ to boost education standards.

Welfare schemes and outreach at the heart of campaign
Shabbir Ali pointed to ongoing welfare programmes like Indiramma Housing and the Mahalakshmi scheme, which includes free bus travel and LPG subsidies. He urged candidates to go door-to-door, explain these initiatives, and identify ward-level concerns.
He also called for unity and coordination among party workers. The goal, he said, was to win all 49 wards. “The people of Kamareddy have endured a decade of neglect,” he stated. “Congress is ready to deliver inclusive governance and meaningful development.”
Among those present were former Kamareddy DCC president Kailas Srinivas Rao, general secretaries Indrakaran Reddy and Gaddam Chandrasekhar Reddy, Library Chairman Chandrakant Reddy, and town Congress president Pandla Raju. Several mandal-level leaders and candidates also attended.
