Congress faces setback as key Sherlingampally leaders shift to BRS

Hyderabad: Congress faces setback in Hyderabad as several key leaders from the Sherlingampally constituency joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi. Joint secretary Vimal Kumar led the group into the BRS at Telangana Bhavan, where working president K.T. Rama Rao welcomed them with party scarves.

K.T. Rama Rao said their entry would strengthen the party in the constituency and improve local organisational work. He noted that committed leaders were essential for ground-level expansion. Meanwhile, Vimal Kumar said the Congress had ignored local workers for months and failed to provide direction. Therefore, the group decided to leave the party.

Congress faces setback as leaders point to internal issues

Vimal Kumar explained that many Congress workers struggled due to a lack of support. He said leaders felt sidelined and unable to serve people effectively. As dissatisfaction grew, the group began exploring alternatives. Eventually, they concluded that the BRS offered clearer guidance and stronger backing.

Other leaders also cited similar reasons for their shift. They said internal disputes in the Congress slowed development efforts in the constituency. Moreover, they believed the BRS leadership maintained better coordination with local cadres, which encouraged them to join the party.

New members pledge to strengthen BRS operations

The newly joined leaders promised to build the party at the booth and division levels. Consequently, K.T. Rama Rao appreciated their commitment and said the BRS would extend full support. He urged them to work closely with senior organisers and focus on expanding the party’s presence in Sherlingampally.

After the formal welcome, the group met senior BRS leaders to discuss upcoming activities. They outlined initial plans to mobilise workers and strengthen local networks.
