Hyderabad: The Telangana Television Development Forum hosted a Karthika Masam film workers’ meet at Begumpet Tourism Plaza on Sunday, bringing together 24 crafts of the film industry under one platform. Senior Congress leaders, including TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud, Ministers Sridhar Babu and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, attended the gathering as chief guests.
The event also saw participation from former Union Minister Vayalar Ravi, representatives of 38 film unions, several noted artistes, and technical crew members.
Discussions during the meet centred on worker welfare, government schemes, and longstanding challenges facing those in the television and film sectors.

Film workers’ meet sees political backing, industry participation
In his speech, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud said the Congress belongs to all sections and assured continued support for film workers. He acknowledged the low success rate in the film industry and compared its unpredictability to politics. “Education brightens life like a colour television,” he remarked, urging workers to pursue learning.
He criticised past governments for neglecting the sector and said the Congress-led administration would actively back the television industry. Goud highlighted that Jubilee Hills Congress candidate Naveen Yadav received a ticket due to his consistent presence among the public. He called on voters to ensure Yadav’s win for the area’s progress.
Goud also alleged that the KCR family looted Telangana’s treasury, and pointed to BRS MLC K Kavitha’s legal troubles as a fallout of unequal fund distribution.
Leaders concluded by reaffirming that the government will support the television sector and address workers’ concerns.
