Hyderabad: Police inaugurated 32 community CCTV cameras at Sriram Colony under Pahadishareef Police Station limits on Tuesday to strengthen local security and surveillance.
RGIA Division Assistant Commissioner of Police Srikanth Goud inaugurated the cameras. Meanwhile, local donors from the Srinagar Small Scale Industries community provided financial support for the installation.
The initiative brought the local industrial community and police together for a public safety measure. In addition, the donors supported the project to improve surveillance in Sriram Colony and nearby areas.
Speaking at the programme, ACP Srikanth Goud and Pahadishareef Inspector of Police B. Lakshmi Narayana Reddy appreciated the industrial community and local donors. They also commended their proactive support for police initiatives.
The officers said the high-definition cameras would help deter crime. Moreover, they would assist police in detecting offences quickly and monitoring suspicious activity throughout the day.
In addition, the surveillance network is expected to strengthen law and order in Sriram Colony and surrounding areas. Police said the cameras would provide continuous monitoring of the locality.
Community CCTV cameras support round-the-clock surveillance
The community CCTV cameras will give police an additional surveillance mechanism in Sriram Colony. Furthermore, camera footage can assist police in detecting offences and following up on incidents.
The police officials also appealed to other local business communities and colony welfare associations to join the Community CCTV initiative.
They urged these groups to support similar security measures in their respective areas. Consequently, greater community participation could support efforts to make Hyderabad a safer city.
Meanwhile, police highlighted the role of community participation in improving local security. The Sriram Colony installation received financial contributions from local donors.
As a result, the new community CCTV cameras will support surveillance across Sriram Colony and its surrounding areas.
