CM Revanth rules out new districts, slams BRS over phone tapping

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday ruled out the creation of any new districts and confirmed that reorganisation would happen only after Assembly consultation. He accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of spreading misinformation to mislead voters ahead of municipal elections.

Addressing a public meeting in Chelpur, Mulugu district, the Chief Minister dismissed speculation over Bhupalpally district being abolished. “There is no plan to dissolve or create districts without proper legislative discussion,” he said. “BRS is manufacturing panic for political gain.”

He urged voters to stay alert to such tactics. “We will retain Bhupalpally as is. Any changes will happen only after wide public consultation and a full Assembly debate,” he stated. According to him, the opposition is twisting routine governance matters into conspiracy theories for electoral advantage.

Revanth claimed the BRS had turned administrative topics into emotional issues. He said the public must recognise this pattern of manipulation, particularly during election season. “Do not let them confuse you with invented threats,” he added.

CM links BRS to surveillance, questions BJP’s silence

Shifting focus, the Chief Minister launched a fierce attack on the KCR-led BRS over alleged illegal phone tapping. He said KCR’s family used surveillance tools to extort property and intimidate opponents. “That’s why we call it Blackmail Rajakiya Samithi,” he declared.

He also referenced BJP MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy’s public admission that businessmen’s phones were tapped during the BRS regime. “These are not our claims alone. Even BJP leaders have exposed them,” Revanth pointed out.

The CM said the surveillance did not stop with businessmen. “They tapped calls of judges, journalists, political rivals—and even private conversations between spouses,” he alleged. Revanth said this proved how far the previous regime went to maintain control.

Furthermore, he criticised Union Minister G Kishan Reddy for not initiating a CBI probe into the Kaleshwaram and Formula E race scams. “Why haven’t central agencies touched KCR or KTR?” he asked. “Kishan Reddy has practically become Kishan Rao—adopted son of KCR.”

He argued that while the Centre had filed ED and CBI cases against Congress leaders like Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, it failed to act against BRS. “This selective silence is unacceptable. Until arrests happen, we will call him Kishan Rao,” Revanth said.

Housing promises, welfare measures and cultural projects

Revanth Reddy then turned his attention to housing and worker welfare. He criticised former CM KCR for building luxury farmhouses while failing to provide double-bedroom homes to the poor. “KCR has a 1,000-acre farmhouse in Erravalli, while his family owns similar properties in Janwada,” he said. “Yet, even his classmate Jahangir did not get a house.”

According to him, had BRS built two lakh homes per year, they could have achieved 20 lakh in ten years. Instead, they delivered barely a fraction. In contrast, the Congress government is building 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses with a ₹22,500 crore budget. “We are giving 3,500 houses per constituency and will announce phase two in the upcoming budget,” he said.

He also promised to abolish the ‘medical unfit’ board for Singareni workers. The government, he said, would resolve the 217 dismissed cases and continue compassionate appointments.

Citing the historical importance of Warangal, Revanth praised the region’s role in the Telangana movement. He recalled contributions by PV Narasimha Rao, Professor Jayashankar, and student activists from Osmania and Kakatiya Universities.

The CM also accused former MA&UD Minister KTR of neglecting urban development. He contrasted this with the Congress-led initiative that sanctioned ₹17,442 crore for urban areas, including ₹6,116 crore for the Warangal region and ₹92 crore for Bhupalpally.

Lastly, Revanth discussed religious tourism and infrastructure. The Sammakka Saralamma Jathara was successfully organised, with ministers Konda Surekha and Seethakka receiving credit for their efforts. As part of preparations for the 2027 Pushkaralu, he announced a ₹3,000 to ₹4,000 crore plan to develop the Godavari river stretch from Basara to Bhadrachalam. Additionally, he revealed that water from the Jampanna Vagu would be diverted to Ramappa Lake to enhance the local environment.

Concluding his remarks, the CM welcomed being addressed by caste names and appreciated women wearing the sarees distributed by the state. He warned voters not to trust either BRS or BJP, describing them as “two sides of the same coin.” “KCR is in his farmhouse, and Modi has not even visited Bhupalpally. Only Congress will resolve your issues,” he said.
