HYDERABAD, February 6: In a significant development, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy convened a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting at the Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resource Development Center in Hyderabad. During the session, he provided strategic guidance to Congress Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) concerning upcoming local body elections.
A focal point of the meeting was the Backward Classes (BC) caste census and the classification of Scheduled Castes (SC). CM Reddy emphasized the importance of communicating these historic decisions to the public and directed legislators to actively engage in this outreach. To amplify these efforts, the party plans to organize two major public meetings, extending invitations to All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi to participate.
Notably, ten MLAs who had previously defected from the party were also invited to the meeting. However, they were absent, reportedly due to an ongoing defection case pending in the Supreme Court. Government Whip Aadi Srinivas highlighted the critical nature of the CLP meeting, noting that CM Reddy provided essential directives on the BC caste census and SC classification. He also mentioned that responsibilities for the local body elections have been assigned to the MLAs. Additionally, legislators facing challenges had the opportunity to express their concerns during the session.
Following the CLP meeting, CM Revanth Reddy is scheduled to travel to Delhi for further discussions with party leadership.
