HYDERABAD, February 10: Chief Minister has instructed officials to ensure the free supply of sand for the Indiramma housing scheme and take strict measures against illegal sand transportation. The orders were issued in a high-level review meeting on Monday.
The CM emphasized that sand should be available at affordable prices for general consumers and directed authorities to clear pending payments related to sand procurement. He also ordered a crackdown on the sand black market to make the material accessible to the poor.
To prevent illegal sand transportation, the CM instructed district collectors and SPs to take full responsibility for monitoring activities in their respective regions. Hyderabad’s enforcement agencies have been tasked with curbing sand smuggling around the city. The CM also directed the establishment of a vigilance and enforcement system to monitor sand-related activities.
The government will implement new measures, including 360-degree cameras and solar lights at sand reaches, strict fencing around stockyards, and designated entry-exit points. Additionally, only registered trucks will be allowed to transport sand, and all vehicles will be equipped with tracking systems.
Officials have been instructed to ensure that sand reaches consumers within 48 hours of booking, with a location-based distribution system. A dedicated portal will be launched to address consumer grievances promptly. The CM also ordered reforms in the online booking system, adjusting booking timings to match office hours.
Strict action will be taken against officials aiding illegal transportation, with the CM warning that no one will be spared. He also stated that he may personally conduct surprise inspections to ensure transparency and prevent corruption in sand distribution.
