Hyderabad: Bhuvanagiri MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday appealed to leaders and workers of the Tungaturthi Congress to maintain unity amid reports of internal differences in the constituency. He urged party workers to exercise restraint and resolve issues through dialogue.
Speaking to the media, Chamala said reports suggested differences had emerged among Congress workers in Tungaturthi. Meanwhile, he said neither he nor Tungaturthi MLA Mandula Samuel came from a political background and credited Congress workers for their electoral victories.
He clarified that he was not opposed to Mandula Samuel. Further, he said he had not recommended anyone for the posts of Mandal Congress president, PACS chairman or Market Committee chairman.
Tungaturthi Congress leaders urged to resolve differences
Chamala said he had suggested that party workers should decide appointments based on local support. Additionally, he said he would respect any decision taken by the MLA.
He said party leaders announced the Mandal Congress presidents while he was abroad. Meanwhile, several Congress workers contacted him after the appointments. He said he brought the issue to the attention of TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan.
Chamala said leaders would discuss the matter with the DCC presidents of Suryapet and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, along with the Parliament observer, to find a solution. Further, he said the party should give opportunities to those who enjoy greater support among workers at the mandal level.
He warned that public disputes over party posts would damage the Congress image. Finally, he urged the Tungaturthi Congress cadre to work in coordination and recognise the workers who helped the party win. He said the people had elected Congress with confidence and the party now had a responsibility to deliver development.
