Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy slams Kishan Reddy for misleading claims on Telangana

Hyderabad: Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, accusing him of making misleading statements and failing to act in Telangana’s interest during the previous regime. He questioned the BJP leader’s claim that the Centre gave ₹13 lakh crore to the state and demanded detailed accounting.

The MP defended the Telangana government’s hosting of the Global Summit, which he said aimed to attract large-scale investments and boost employment. He noted that more than 3,000 delegates from India and abroad were participating in the event, positioning Telangana as a major investment destination.

MP questions Centre’s role and BJP’s intent

Reddy said the state was recovering from a decade of misgovernance under the BRS and praised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s efforts to restore administrative order. “If the Centre truly provided ₹13 lakh crore, how did Telangana accumulate ₹8 lakh crore in debt?” he asked, pointing out that the state pays ₹8,000 crore in monthly interest alone.

He questioned why Kishan Reddy remained silent during alleged corruption and family rule in the previous state government. “Why didn’t he use Central mechanisms to stop Telangana’s decline then?” Reddy asked.

Criticising the Union Minister’s recent statements, the MP said, “Instead of shouting made-up figures at street corners, he should give department-wise data of the claimed ₹13 lakh crore.” He added that Kishan Reddy owed his positions to the people of Telangana and should act with accountability.

Reddy also condemned the sudden relocation of the Semiconductor Project from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh. He said the Centre must clarify whether the move was intended to please Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu before the 18th Lok Sabha.

He reiterated the Congress government’s commitment to implementing all six guarantees despite financial pressure and asked whether any BJP-ruled state offered comparable welfare programmes, such as free fine rice, women’s bus travel, or ₹2 lakh farm loan waivers.

He criticised BJP leaders for obstructing development, citing Kishan Reddy’s public remarks and Telangana BJP President Ramachandra Rao’s protests at Indira Park. “When good is happening for Telangana, they burn with jealousy. But the people are watching,” he said.

Reddy also challenged the BJP’s electoral performance. “If you gave ₹13 lakh crore, why did the BJP lose deposits in Jubilee Hills and fail in Cantonment?” he asked. He urged Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay to attend the Global Summit and help build investor confidence.
