Hyderabad: The BRS legal cell has issued legal notices to three Congress leaders over claims that water from Kondapochamma Sagar was diverted to former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s farmhouse. The notices target Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna. BRS accused them of spreading false information to damage KCR’s reputation.
BRS general secretary and legal cell in-charge Soma Bharat Kumar sent the notices. The party objected to social media posts repeating the allegations about the irrigation project and KCR’s farmhouse.
BRS legal notices demand removal of social media posts
The legal action followed earlier notices to the management and editor of Telugu daily *Velugu* over the same issue. Subsequently, the BRS legal cell issued notices to the three Congress leaders, alleging that they had continued promoting the disputed claims.
The party demanded that the leaders immediately remove the relevant posts from their social media accounts without conditions. It also called on them to withdraw the allegations. According to BRS, the claims were baseless and could mislead the public about Telangana’s irrigation projects.
Furthermore, the legal cell warned that it would not tolerate attempts to mislead people through unsupported allegations about irrigation infrastructure. It said the party would pursue further legal action if the leaders failed to respond to the notices.
The BRS legal cell specifically cited defamation and other applicable legal provisions as possible grounds for further proceedings. The notices called for the removal of the posts and withdrawal of the claims concerning the alleged diversion of Kondapochamma Sagar water to KCR’s farmhouse.
