Hyderabad: Police detained BRS leaders during a protest at the Enforcement Directorate office in Hyderabad on Monday. The leaders sought details about the ED investigation involving Telangana Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
The BRS leaders questioned the agency over the status of the probe and action taken after searches conducted two years ago. They also sought an explanation from the ED and the Union government about the investigation.
BRS leaders detained during ED protest
MLA Kalvakuntla Sanjay Kumar, MLCs Shambipur Raju and Naveen Kumar, along with other BRS leaders, gathered outside the ED office. Police stopped them as they protested and raised slogans.
The leaders then sat outside the office and continued their protest. Sanjay Kumar questioned the police action and objected to the detention of the BRS leaders.
Later, police allowed a delegation of BRS leaders to enter the ED office and meet agency officials. BRS MLAs Sanjay Kumar and K.P. Vivekanand joined MLCs Shambipur Raju, Naveen Kumar and Talasani Sai Kiran Yadav in the delegation.
The delegation sought details from ED officials about the investigation. The leaders also demanded clarity on the status of the case and the action taken following the earlier searches.
KTR raises questions over investigation
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao also raised the issue on X. He referred to the two-year period since the ED searches and questioned why the agency had not provided an update on the case.
Rama Rao alleged that a Congress minister was receiving different treatment from opposition leaders. His remarks focused on the handling of the investigation involving Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
Meanwhile, BRS workers continued their protest outside the ED office. They raised slogans against Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
