Hyderabad: BRS leader R. S. Praveen Kumar raised UAPA misuse allegations against CM A. Revanth Reddy, accusing him of leaking sensitive police data.
In a statement on Friday, the BRS leader alleged that confidential information was exposed, compromising state security. He questioned the Chief Minister’s role as Home Minister.
He also claimed that authorities targeted a social media platform named “Telugu Scribe.” According to him, the platform had published evidence of alleged government irregularities.
UAPA misuse allegations raise concerns over enforcement
Praveen Kumar alleged that police invoked the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against the platform. He said the law is generally used in terrorism-related cases.
Furthermore, he raised concerns about notices reportedly issued through a unit referred to as the “CI Cell.” He said many police personnel were unaware of its existence.
Praveen Kumar described the developments as dangerous and said they could affect institutional integrity. He also warned that such actions could place IPS officers at risk.
Meanwhile, he said the BRS would continue to oppose what he termed misuse of power. He added that the party would continue to raise issues on behalf of the public.
