Hyderabad: Two international flights triggered a security alert at Shamshabad International Airport after officials received an email warning of a bomb threat early on Saturday. The message claimed that explosives were on Kuwait–Hyderabad flight KU-373 and British Airways flight BA-277. Because the threat involved two incoming flights, airport staff moved quickly and alerted both crews. Pilots diverted the Kuwait–Hyderabad service to Muscat after ground control advised an immediate change in route. Meanwhile, the British Airways flight touched down safely in Hyderabad at 5.25 a.m., allowing security teams to start inspection.
Moreover, CISF personnel and the bomb squad began a detailed search of the aircraft. They checked every bag, walked through the cabin and reviewed the cargo hold. Officials later said their search did not reveal any suspicious material. The alert arrived during a period of frequent scares, which had already unsettled passengers facing separate disruptions at IndiGo. Airport sources explained that customer-support staff responded fast because the email came moments before the flights approached the city. Consequently, the airport switched to its highest security level.
Bomb threat leads to extended checks at Hyderabad airport
Officials said the Kuwait–Hyderabad crew turned back to the departure airport once they received the warning. They added that steady communication between air-traffic control and the cockpit helped the team make quick decisions. Furthermore, the alert pushed the airport into heightened security until agencies completed all verification steps. Security teams followed established drills to guide the inspection and cleared the British Airways aircraft without delay. Although they found no device, officers said they would continue scrutiny under the standard protocol for any bomb threat linked to international arrivals.
