Hyderabad: Boath MLA Anil Jadhav on Friday visited Adilabad district BRS president and former minister Jogu Ramanna, who was arrested by police ahead of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s Adilabad district tour.
Boath MLA Anil Jadhav met Jogu Ramanna at his residence and enquired about his well-being. Police had placed the former minister under preventive house arrest earlier.
The MLA alleged that police acted to silence Jogu Ramanna for raising farmers’ issues. He said the former minister had been fighting consistently on behalf of farmers.
According to Anil Jadhav, police carried out the house arrest late at night. He said the action followed Jogu Ramanna’s call to oppose the Chief Minister’s visit.
BRS alleges misuse of police power
The Boath MLA said illegal house arrests of BRS leaders were unacceptable. He said police should not target leaders who questioned the government over farmers’ issues.
Anil Jadhav said arresting leaders for seeking fulfilment of promises was shameful. He added that the BRS would continue to stand firmly with farmers.
