Hyderabad: Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao on Monday accused the Congress government of spreading misinformation about the Central government ahead of the February 11 municipal elections. He said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent remarks were part of a deliberate false narrative aimed at misleading voters.
At a press conference held during the final campaign phase, Rao dismissed allegations of bias against Southern states. He said Congress and its allies were attempting to divide public opinion for political gain.
According to Rao, the Centre had released over ₹12 lakh crore to Telangana in the past 11 years. He credited several municipal and urban development projects in the state to Central schemes.

Rao listed schemes such as AMRUT, Swachh Bharat Mission, PM Awas Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, and free ration distribution as key contributors to improving urban infrastructure and living standards in Telangana. He also cited Vande Bharat trains, station upgrades under Amrit Bharat, and improved rail-road connectivity as evidence of sustained Central investment.
Turning his criticism toward the state government, Rao said Congress had failed to deliver on its “Six Guarantees” and other electoral promises. He alleged administrative collapse, rising corruption, and neglect of pensioners and retirees.
Rao claimed that the Congress was targeting BJP leaders through smear campaigns in response to the party’s rising public support. He urged the state government to focus on governance instead of deflecting blame.
Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri was also present at the press meet.
