BJP will bring ₹500 crore if it wins municipal polls: Bandi Sanjay

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar said he would bring ₹500 crore in central funds to Telangana if voters elected the BJP in the upcoming municipal elections.

Addressing a corner meeting in Huzurabad on Thursday afternoon, Sanjay Kumar said the Centre recently released ₹259 crore for gram panchayats. He stated that the release followed sustained efforts by Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and himself. He alleged that Congress rule left municipalities without meaningful support. At the same time, he said the BJP never made false promises.

He said the BJP would change Huzurabad’s future if voters handed the municipal chairman post to the party. Therefore, he promised to visit Delhi and secure large-scale funds for town development.

Referring to the mini stadium project, Sanjay Kumar said the Centre sanctioned funds earlier. However, he alleged that the Congress government created hurdles at every stage. After elections, he said, construction would begin immediately.

He also detailed central assistance to Huzurabad. According to him, the Modi government released ₹19.57 crore under the 14th and 15th Finance Commissions, ₹1.10 crore under Swachh Bharat, and ₹16.25 crore under AMRUT. In addition, he said ₹7.63 crore reached 4,377 beneficiaries under SVANidhi, while ₹36 crore came through UIDF.

He said CSR and MPLADS funds brought medical equipment to the government hospital. However, he blamed the state government for poor maintenance and staff shortages. He added that he funded community halls, borewells, free bicycles for Class 10 students, and exam fees from his salary.

Finally, he promised to complete stalled Mini Tank Bund works, sanction houses for the poor, distribute double-bedroom houses, and provide drains, CC roads, and streetlights. District BJP president Gangadhar Krishna Reddy, party in-charge Erram Mahesh, councillor candidates, and party leaders attended the meeting.
