Hyderabad: Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) launched a two-day vigilance workshop on October 9 and 10 to strengthen institutional integrity across defence public sector undertakings. The BDL vigilance workshop forms part of the Preventive Vigilance Campaign 2026 and brings officials from all 16 Defence PSUs together.
The programme focuses on exchanging best practices, addressing common challenges and improving vigilance administration. Chief Vigilance Officers and other officials are participating in discussions aimed at strengthening institutional accountability.
DV Srinivas Rao, BDL Director (Technical), inaugurated the workshop in the presence of senior officials. Those attending included Commodore Sujay Kapoor (Retd), Director (Production), and Spurthi Reddy, IRS, Chief Vigilance Officer of BDL.
A message from Dinesh Mahur, Additional Secretary and Chief Vigilance Officer of the Department of Defence Production, outlined three key priorities. These included preventive rather than purely punitive vigilance, protecting bona fide decisions taken in good faith, and using technology and data analytics to identify risks.
BDL vigilance workshop focuses on fraud prevention and ethical governance
Rao highlighted the importance of preventive vigilance in strengthening governance and improving operational efficiency. Meanwhile, Reddy described the workshop as an opportunity for “Chintan and Manthan”, encouraging open dialogue and collective learning among participating officials.
The sessions will examine ethical institutional practices, fraud prevention and investigation. Participants will also exchange best practices and discuss challenges faced by vigilance units across Defence PSUs.
Through the two-day programme, BDL is providing a common platform for vigilance officials to discuss approaches to institutional integrity. The discussions will focus on preventive measures, shared learning and the use of technology to identify potential risks.
