Hyderabad: More than 220 nursing professionals attended a critical care nursing workshop organised by Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute. The programme formed part of the 6th World Conference on Comprehensive Critical Care (W4C 2026).
Led by Dr. Basanth Kumar Rayani, Head of Onco Anaesthesia, the workshop combined expert sessions with practical training. Participants received instruction in ventilator management, oxygen therapy, airway management and arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation.
The training also covered delirium management, nutrition, end-of-life care and patient mobilisation. In addition, sessions addressed the early identification of clinical deterioration and other essential critical care practices.
Organisers highlighted the important role nurses play in identifying early warning signs and responding promptly to changes in patients’ conditions. The discussions also emphasised safe, evidence-based care and the importance of timely clinical intervention.
Critical care nursing workshop concludes with certificates
Dr. Rajeswari Muppidi, president of the Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI), Telangana, attended the inaugural session as chief guest. Other participants included Dr. Basanth Kumar Rayani, Dr. K. Kalpana Raghunath, Associate Director, and Dr. Phani Koteswara Rao, Medical Superintendent.
Shri Raavi Srinivasa Rao, Chief Operating Officer, and Dr. Vibhavari Naik, Senior Consultant in Onco Anaesthesia, also attended. The other attendees included Dr. Arumugam, In-charge of Critical Care and Emergency Medicine, Dr. Rajini, Consultant in Critical Care and Emergency Medicine, and Mrs. Sreevani, Nursing Superintendent.
The programme concluded with a post-workshop assessment and certificate distribution. Organisers emphasised that continuous professional training remains important for strengthening nursing skills and improving patient care.
