Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) expects a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal to become a cyclonic storm by the morning of 26 October. The storm is likely to form over the west-central Bay of Bengal. The system is then likely to move west-northwestwards towards the North Andhra Pradesh and adjoining South Odisha coasts. Heavy rainfall warnings at this stage focus mainly on coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
The IMD confirmed that the low-pressure area formed over the southeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal on 23 October. The system is expected to intensify into a depression on 24 October and a deep depression on 25 October.
Telangana likely to stay dry till October 26
For Telangana, the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has forecast largely dry weather through 26 October. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places from 27 October onwards. The eastern districts are expected to feel a greater impact if the system follows the projected track.
Some private forecasts have suggested heavier rain in Bhadradri-Kothagudem and neighbouring areas around 29–31 October. However, official guidance remains more cautious and depends on the system’s final intensity and path.
