Bathukamma celebrations in Hyderabad enter Guinness World Records

Hyderabad: Telangana’s Bathukamma celebrations created history on Monday by entering the Guinness World Records with two remarkable achievements at the Saroor Nagar Stadium.

The state government organised the Mega Bathukamma, where 10,000 participants gathered around a 63.11-foot floral arrangement. Guinness officials supervised the event to certify the records.

Bathukamma Guinness World Records: two titles set

The first record was for the largest folk dance, featuring thousands of women performing in unison. The second was for the synchronised dance around the 63.11-foot Bathukamma, which stood 36 feet wide, weighed 10.7 tons, and was built in 11 layers.

More than 300 workers assembled the floral structure over three days using nine types of flowers.

Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and Seethakka, along with Miss World 2025 Opal Suchata Chuangsri, joined thousands of women in the celebration.

Officials said the initiative, named Maha Bathukamma, aimed to showcase Telangana’s cultural identity on a global platform. The successful entry into the Guinness World Records exceeded expectations and marked a proud moment for the state.
