Hyderabad: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar attacked the Congress government over delays in releasing panchayat funds to village panchayats across Telangana and announced a one-month deadline.
While addressing party leaders and local body representatives, Sanjay warned that the BJP would organise a statewide “parade” of sarpanches and deputy sarpanches in Hyderabad if the government failed to act.
He said the BJP would continue its agitation until villages received funds. Therefore, he added, the party would force the government to release the money.
Mocking the Congress, Sanjay said the party would not win even one seat if panchayat elections took place on party symbols.
These remarks followed his felicitation of 108 BJP-backed sarpanches, deputy sarpanches and ward members in the Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency.
BJP-backed villages to be developed as model villages
Bandi Sanjay announced plans to develop the 108 BJP-supported villages as model villages for the state.
For this purpose, he said he would use MPLADS and CSR funds for development works. Accordingly, each village would receive a water plant.
He also promised toilets in all government schools. At the same time, he said primary health centres would receive modern medical equipment.
Emphasising priorities, Sanjay said education and healthcare ranked at the top. In addition, he announced bicycle distribution to Class 9 students under sarpanch supervision.
Addressing newly elected representatives, Sanjay said the sarpanch post carried responsibility, not power. Hence, he urged them to support villagers during difficult times.
Recalling earlier efforts, Sanjay said his initiatives had already delivered advanced medical equipment to government hospitals in Karimnagar, Vemulawada and Huzurabad.
