Hyderabad: Telangana Minister for Minority Welfare and Public Enterprises Mohd. Azharuddin on Monday described Christmas as a season of love, compassion, and peace that strengthens bonds across communities and fosters national unity.
Speaking at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat’s Christmas celebrations for Christian employees, Azharuddin shared personal memories of studying in a Christian institution and celebrating Christmas during his student years. He said those experiences shaped his views on harmony and mutual respect.

The minister fondly recalled watching Boxing Day cricket matches in his youth and said such traditions taught him values like discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
“Christmas is not just a celebration but a reminder to care for the underprivileged and support each other,” Azharuddin said. He added that the festival plays an essential role in strengthening India’s unity in diversity.
He assured that the Congress government, under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, would continue supporting all religious communities and ensure inclusive, peaceful celebrations. Extending warm greetings to the Christian community, Azharuddin pledged to address their concerns and promote equitable development.
Rev. Dr. John Wesley delivered a message focused on love, peace, and service. The event saw participation from senior officials, association members, and staff.
