Hyderabad: Rajya Sabha Member Anil Kumar Yadav on Saturday inaugurated the IMS Canteen at Abids Circle in Hyderabad. The initiative will be operated by members of women Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
The programme was attended by the Golconda Zonal Commissioner and Additional Commissioner (UCD). The Deputy Commissioner (Cooperative), Fisheries Corporation Chairman and other dignitaries also participated.
Speaking on the occasion, Anil Kumar Yadav interacted with women SHG members. He said the canteen was established to provide safe, hygienic and nutritious food to the public.
He said the initiative would also ensure quality food was available at affordable prices.
IMS Canteen offers livelihood opportunity to SHGs
Women SHG members expressed gratitude for the opportunity to operate the canteen. They noted that it was located at a circle office in a prime area such as Abids.
The members said their small savings and collective efforts had helped them reach this stage. They viewed the canteen as an opportunity to strengthen their livelihoods.
The SHG members also thanked Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and the GHMC Commissioner for providing the opportunity.
They said the initiative would help improve their livelihoods and promote greater financial self-reliance among the participating women.
