Lucknow, January 27: Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in the Mahakumbh at Prayagraj on Monday, performing a ceremonial dip in the sacred waters of the Sangam. Accompanying him were Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Juna Akhada’s Mahamandaleshwar Avdheshanand Giri, and yoga guru Baba Ramdev. The group performed rituals together, with Yogi and the saints pouring water over Shah.
The ceremonial dip lasted approximately 10 minutes, during which Amit Shah, guided by saints and amidst Vedic chants, performed a puja in the Ganga. Following this, Shah was scheduled to visit the Akshayavat, a sacred fig tree, and participate in a meeting with the saints. He was also expected to share a meal with them during his five-hour stay at the Mahakumbh.
Amit Shah was accompanied by his son, Jay Shah, and other family members. His aircraft landed at Bamrauli Airport at around 11:30 AM, where he was welcomed by CM Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, and other dignitaries.
From the airport, Shah boarded a BSF helicopter to reach Delhi Public School (DPS) and proceeded by car to Arail Ghat. He then took a steamer to the VIP ghat, where CM Yogi and saints joined him. During the visit, Shah was also seen feeding birds near the ghat, adding a moment of tranquillity to the ceremonial events.
