Hyderabad: The city prepared the Nampally Exhibition Grounds for the 85th All India Industrial Exhibition, which is set to open on January 1 and continue until February 15, spanning 45 days.
Organisers confirmed that around 1,050 traders from across the country will set up stalls at the exhibition. They also arranged 20 dedicated food stalls. Anticipating a footfall of nearly 25 lakh visitors, the exhibition society completed all safety and security arrangements at the venue.
Authorities fixed the entry ticket price at ₹50. On regular days, visitors can enter the exhibition grounds from 4 pm to 11 pm.
To ease travel, TSRTC planned special bus services for the exhibition period. The Hyderabad Metro Rail stations at Nampally and Gandhi Bhavan will offer convenient access to visitors. Meanwhile, society representatives requested metro officials to extend service hours during the exhibition. Officials will also open a special metro ticket counter at the venue.
All India Industrial Exhibition security arrangements tightened
Organisers strengthened security measures as the exhibition expects more than 20 lakh visitors. Security personnel will screen every visitor before entry. Teams will conduct metal detector checks at Goshamahal Gate, Ajanta Gate and Gandhi Bhavan Gate.
As in previous years, organisers will conduct cultural programmes, sports competitions and entertainment events. Officials said the society plans to use the revenue generated from the exhibition to expand educational institutions across several districts. The society continues to establish women’s colleges, polytechnics, pharmacy, engineering, degree and ITI colleges.
The exhibition grounds offer attractions for both children and adults. Traders set up stalls selling toys, wooden items, kitchenware, clothing, electrical goods and electronic products. Giant wheels, amusement rides and a mini train operate within the grounds.
Organisers recalled that a major fire accident in 2019 destroyed property worth crores and caused heavy losses to traders. The exhibition took place in 2020 but remained closed in 2021 due to COVID-19. In 2022, the society arranged nearly 1,500 stalls. However, a fire incident in the parking area damaged several vehicles. This year, organisers enhanced fire safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
All India Industrial Exhibition safety committees and fire readiness
The society deployed 34 sub-committees and 106 security guards to monitor operations. Officials banned lighters, cigarettes, gutkha and weapons inside the premises. Overall arrangements include 138 day volunteers and 76 night volunteers, bringing the total workforce to 320 personnel.
Fire safety infrastructure includes two groundwater tanks with a combined capacity of three lakh litres, 82 hydrants, 45 trained volunteers and two fire engines with a capacity of 10,000 litres each.
Several government departments will set up stalls at the exhibition grounds. These include the Reserve Bank of India, Forest Department of Telangana, Department of Prisons, Telangana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Limited, Hyderabad Police, MEPMA, Social Welfare Department, LIC of India, Tourism Department, Education Department and the Pollution Control Board.
Authorities arranged free parking facilities at Gruhakalpa, Chandra Vihar, Gagan Vihar and Bhim Rao Wada areas. Visitors can also use the automated multi-level paid parking facility located near the Handloom House.
