ACB arrests Boinpally woman SI, writer in bribery case

Hyderabad: ACB officials caught a woman sub-inspector and a police writer red-handed in a bribery case at Boinpally police station while they allegedly accepted Rs 30,000 from a complainant.

Officials identified the accused as woman SI Kiran Nandita and police writer Vijay Kumar. The incident came to light on Wednesday during an ACB operation.

According to ACB officials, a man from Boinpally faced two cases filed by his father over family disputes. As part of court orders, the accused had to appear at the police station every Monday.

However, the man informed police writer Vijay Kumar that he was shifting from Boinpally to Kondapur and requested exemption from weekly attendance.

Initially, Vijay Kumar allegedly demanded Rs 15,000. He reportedly said Rs 10,000 would go to the woman SI and Rs 5,000 to him.

Bribery case trap laid by ACB officials

Later, Vijay Kumar allegedly informed the complainant that the amount had increased to Rs 30,000 after discussions with the SI.

Following the demand, the complainant approached ACB officials and lodged a complaint.

On Wednesday, the complainant arrived with the cash amount as instructed by woman SI Kiran Nandita. However, she allegedly avoided taking the money directly and asked him to place it inside the dickey of her scooter.

The complainant placed the cash inside the scooter storage compartment and returned the keys to her.

Meanwhile, ACB officials, who monitored the operation, caught Kiran Nandita and Vijay Kumar with evidence and seized the bribe amount.

ACB officials said Kiran Nandita belonged to the 2024 batch of sub-inspectors, while Vijay Kumar joined the police department as a constable in 2007.
