19-kg commercial LPG cylinder hiked by ₹993; Hyderabad rate crosses Rs 3,000

Hyderabad: The commercial LPG cylinder rate surged sharply after state-owned oil marketing companies increased prices of 19-kg cylinders by Rs 993 from Friday.

With the latest revision, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Hyderabad now costs Rs 3,069. Meanwhile, consumers in New Delhi will pay Rs 3,071.50 for the same cylinder.

Oil companies, however, kept prices of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders unchanged. As a result, household consumers will continue paying existing rates despite rising international fuel prices.

Companies generally revise LPG cylinder prices at the beginning of every month. In recent months, commercial gas prices have witnessed repeated increases.

Commercial LPG cylinder rate rises for third time

Oil firms first increased commercial LPG cylinder prices by Rs 144 in March. Later, they raised rates by nearly Rs 200 on April 1.

The latest hike is likely to increase operational costs for hotels, restaurants, eateries, and other businesses that depend on commercial cooking gas.

Meanwhile, tensions in West Asia continued to disrupt global fuel supply chains. The ongoing conflict involving Iran, the US, and Israel affected shipping movement through the Strait of Hormuz.

Market experts said supply disruptions and uncertainty in energy transportation contributed to the steep increase in commercial LPG prices.
