Hyderabad: Arvapally Police arrested three men in connection with a wine shop theft reported on August 21. Police solved the case within three days and recovered cash, liquor bottles and a motorcycle.
The suspects allegedly broke open the shutter of Rishitha-1 Wine Shop in Arvapally around midnight on August 21. They reportedly stole liquor and cash from the shop before fleeing.
On Tuesday morning, Arvapally Police conducted vehicle checks under SI Madhu’s supervision. During the checks, officers stopped three men travelling suspiciously on an HF Deluxe motorcycle.
Police questioned the trio and detained them for further inquiry. According to Nagaram CI Nageswara Rao, the suspects admitted their involvement in the wine shop theft during questioning.
Police recovered Rs. 17,200 in cash, three full liquor bottles and the motorcycle from the suspects. Officers also seized the vehicle used by the accused during the alleged crime.
Wine shop theft investigation reveals suspects’ criminal records
The main accused, A-1 Pinnoju Ravi, is a known offender, according to the CI. Police said more than 20 cases were registered against him across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Police identified A-2 as Anaparthi Durgaiah and A-3 as Karkani Naresh. Two POCSO cases are pending against Durgaiah, while police have registered land-dispute and matrimonial cases against Naresh.
Ravi and Durgaiah reportedly became acquainted while serving time at Suryapet Sub-Jail. Ravi was released from the jail on August 18 and allegedly joined Durgaiah to commit the theft.
According to police, the two men used Naresh’s motorcycle during the alleged crime. Officers arrested all three and produced them before the Thungathurthi court, which remanded them.
CI Nageswara Rao appreciated SI Madhu and the police team for solving the case within three days. He specifically praised head constables Sudheer and Srikanth and constables Lingayya, Srinu, Krishna, Balakrishna and Venkat.
