Minister Vivek Venkatswamy directs labour departments to boost performance, services in 2026

Hyderabad: Labour & Employment Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy on Thursday urged officials of the Labour, Employment, Factories, and ESI departments to improve their performance in view of 2026 as part of the year‑ahead agenda.

On the occasion of the New Year, the Minister held a review meeting with departmental officials at the Secretariat. As he outlined expectations for the upcoming Vivek Venkatswamy labour performance in 2026, he assessed the current functioning during a brief interaction.

He directed the Employment and Training Department to roll out new skill development courses, including programmes based on Artificial Intelligence, at Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs). He underscored that all new courses must align with current and emerging industry needs to boost youth employability.

Stressing the importance of worker safety, Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy asked the Factories Department to strengthen safety protocols and preparedness to prevent industrial accidents. Citing incidents such as the Sigachi mishap, he said authorities must ensure that there is zero compromise on worker safety and welfare.

Regarding the labour performance for 2026, the Minister evaluated the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) department. He instructed officials to improve quality medical care for insured persons (IPs) and emphasized he would not tolerate complaints about substandard services. He also directed the establishment of additional dispensaries wherever necessary.

Officials from multiple departments visited the Minister’s chamber to extend New Year greetings. Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy reciprocated the good wishes and called on officials to work with greater commitment, responsibility, and accountability throughout the year.

Special Secretary Dana Kishore and Director of Employment and Training Smt. Kanti Wesley, present during the meeting, agreed with emphasising Vivek Venkatswamy’s labour performance outreach into 2026.
