Minister Vivek, MP Vamsikrishna meet CM Revanth in Delhi; vow to uphold Congress legacy

Hyderabad: In a meeting that underlined continuity and commitment to Congress values, newly inducted Telangana Minister G. Vivek Venkataswamy and Peddapalli MP Vamsikrishna met Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in Delhi on Tuesday. The duo greeted Revanth with a bouquet and shawl, making it their first formal interaction since Vivek’s elevation to the state Cabinet.

The meeting, though ceremonial on the surface, carried political weight, especially as Vivek’s appointment has drawn attention across Telangana. The senior leader has repeatedly linked his public life to the ideals and accomplishments of his father, the late Congress veteran Kaka Venkataswamy.

Speaking to the media after the interaction, Vivek reaffirmed that he would walk in his father’s footsteps. “My father was once given a small department with a modest ₹5,000 crore budget. He didn’t complain he turned it into a ₹25,000 crore mission. Whether it was rural development or labour welfare, he used every opportunity for the people,” he said.

As Minister, Vivek vowed to do the same work hard, regardless of which department he’s given. “The Chief Minister alone decides portfolios. Whatever I’m assigned, I’ll make sure it brings pride to the government,” he said.

He pointed to his record as an MP, recalling how he got the closed Ramagundam Fertiliser Factory reopened by securing ₹10,000 crore in debt relief through then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. “It’s not the designation it’s what you deliver that counts,” Vivek added.

On Monday, his first day in Delhi as a Minister, Vivek also met AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary K.C. Venugopal, thanking them for their trust. Joined by his wife Saroj and son, he also discussed party affairs and development goals alongside MP Vamsikrishna.

The meetings reflected the Congress leadership’s focus on experience-driven governance and unity across generations within the party.
