Hyderabad: Telangana Labour and Mines Minister Dr G. Vivek Venkataswamy on Monday met AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi and discussed Telangana Assembly proceedings, the 22A land issue and welfare programmes.
Vivek met Kharge during a courtesy call and also enquired about the Congress president’s health. “I called on the AICC President and enquired about his well-being. He is in good health,” the minister said.
During the meeting, Kharge sought details about remarks made against Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. He also discussed the broader proceedings of the Assembly with Vivek. “The AICC President asked me specifically about the remarks against the Speaker and also discussed the overall Assembly proceedings,” Vivek said.
Vivek meets Kharge amid discussion on state developments
The two leaders also reviewed recent political developments in Telangana during the meeting. In addition, they discussed issues concerning land classified under Section 22A and reviewed the implementation of public welfare schemes.
Vivek said the discussion covered both the progress of welfare programmes and concerns surrounding the 22A land issue. “We discussed the implementation of welfare programmes and the 22A land issue in detail,” he said.
The 22A issue formed one of the main state-related subjects raised during the interaction. Meanwhile, Kharge sought information on other developments connected with Telangana and the functioning of the Assembly.
The meeting also covered political developments in the state alongside administrative and welfare-related matters. Vivek meets Kharge at a time when the minister had been engaged with issues concerning Telangana’s legislative proceedings and government programmes. However, the minister described the interaction primarily as a courtesy call during which he enquired about Kharge’s well-being.
Kharge also raised concerns related to the El Niño phenomenon and its possible impact, according to Vivek. The minister did not provide further details in the statement about the specific effects discussed. Nevertheless, the issue formed part of the wider conversation between the two leaders.
Their discussion, therefore, ranged from Telangana Assembly proceedings and the Speaker-related remarks to land matters and welfare programmes. The meeting also covered current political developments in Telangana.
Vivek meets Kharge also included an exchange on the progress of public welfare schemes being implemented in the state. The minister said Kharge had taken interest in both legislative developments and issues affecting public administration.
