NEW DELHI: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the final result of the Civil Services Examination 2024. Shakti Dubey from Prayagraj has emerged as the All India Rank 1 holder. The merit list includes a total of 1,009 candidates recommended for appointment to various civil services. The official result is available on [upsc.gov.in](https://upsc.gov.in).
Shakti Dubey, who topped the exam in her fifth attempt, completed her graduation in Biochemistry from Allahabad University. She had Political Science and International Relations as her optional subjects. In her previous attempt, she had narrowly missed the cut-off by just 12 marks. Her father is Devendra Dubey.
Top 10 Candidates:
- Rank 1: Shakti Dubey, Prayagraj – Biochemistry graduate from Allahabad University; optional: Political Science & International Relations.
- Rank 2: Harshita Goyal – Originally from Haryana, raised in Vadodara, Gujarat. A Chartered Accountant by qualification, she has worked with children suffering from thalassemia and cancer through Ahmedabad’s Belief Foundation.
- Rank 3: Archit – BTech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from VIT, Vellore; optional: Philosophy.
- Rank 4: Margi – BTech in Computer Engineering from Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad; optional: Sociology.
- Rank 5: Akash Garg – BTech in Computer Science from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi; optional: Sociology.
- Rank 6: Komal – From Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh; topped her district in intermediate exams and completed BTech from IIT Roorkee.
- Rank 7: Ayushi – Native of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh; worked with McKinsey & Company before quitting in 2022 to prepare for UPSC. Previously secured AIR 97 in 2023 and AIR 188 in 2022.
- Rank 8: Raj Krishna Jha – From Sitamarhi, Bihar; schooled in Nepal, graduated in Mechanical Engineering from MNNIT, and worked with Hindustan Petroleum.
- Rank 9: Aditya – From Bahadurgarh, Haryana; BTech in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Allahabad; optional: Anthropology.
- Rank 10: Mayank – From Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh; improved from AIR 337 in his first attempt to Rank 10 in his second. Previously selected as DSP under UP PCS.
Key Highlights:
- Among the top 25 candidates, 11 are women and 14 are men.
- The top 5 includes three women, and four women are in the top 10.
- Toppers come from a diverse academic background, including engineering, humanities, science, commerce, medical science, and architecture, with degrees from institutions such as IITs, NITs, VIT, JNU, Delhi University, and Allahabad University.
Examination Statistics:
- A total of 9,92,599 candidates applied for the UPSC 2024 exam.
- 5,83,213 candidates appeared in the preliminary examination held on 16 June 2024.
- 14,627 candidates qualified for the mains examination, held in September 2024.
- 2,845 candidates were selected for the interview round.
- The final selection includes 1,009 candidates (725 men and 284 women) recommended for appointment to various civil services.
This year’s UPSC results reflect not only academic excellence but also personal determination, with several candidates improving significantly from previous attempts and coming from diverse socio-economic and professional backgrounds.
