Two organ donations save seven lives in Telangana

Hyderabad: Organ donation by the families of two brain-dead patients helped save the lives of seven people, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said on Friday while praising their humanitarian decision.

Sharing the details on X, Sajjanar said both families agreed to donate their loved ones’ organs despite their personal grief, giving seven patients a fresh chance at life.

Doctors declared 63-year-old Burela Seethamma of Macharla in Guntur district brain dead after she suffered a critical illness. Her son, Manichandra, consented to donate her two kidneys, liver and two corneas. As a result, five patients benefited from the transplants.

Meanwhile, doctors also declared 56-year-old driver Namala Sahadev of Bowrampet in Medchal-Malkajgiri district brain dead.

His wife, Lakshmi, consented to donate one kidney and his liver. Consequently, the transplants saved the lives of two patients.

Sajjanar thanked both families for supporting organ donation despite their profound loss. He said their decision brought hope and a new lease of life to seven people.
