Hyderabad: TPCC official spokesperson Chanagani Dayakar levelled a sharp attack on BJP leader Eatala Rajender on Tuesday, accusing him of playing a fake BC card for electoral gain while shielding his own privileges and past ties with the BRS.
Speaking to media, Dayakar said Eatala was frustrated after being denied the BJP state president post and has been making baseless remarks ever since. “He opens his mouth only when the CM responds or when he needs attention,” said Dayakar, adding that Eatala had turned his fire toward the Congress only because he was denied leadership space within the BJP.
He alleged that Eatala never once welcomed any of the Congress government’s schemes and instead criticised initiatives like the Musi River clean-up project, even going as far as to stand with those affected instead of supporting a solution.
“Eatala lives in five acres, in clean air. But the poor should live in filth? That’s his logic,” Dayakar remarked, accusing him of double standards.
Referring to Eatala’s switch to the BJP, he said it was not ideological but purely for protection from legal troubles during the KCR regime. “He left BRS only to escape cases. He never truly fit into BJP,” Dayakar said, suggesting that Eatala may even return to BRS if denied a ticket again.
The Congress spokesperson questioned Eatala’s silence on key issues like job recruitment under the Congress government, corruption in BRS rule, and the Kaleshwaram project’s collapse. “Not one press meet on Kaleshwaram. Not one word against BRS scams,” he noted.
Dayakar also pointed to Eatala’s alleged land disputes, including coercive land acquisitions in Musayipet under the Lavanya Patta case, calling for an apology to farmers and the Chief Minister.
“Inside his home, there’s no social justice. Yet he speaks of BC empowerment outside,” he said, adding that Eatala’s image as a BC leader is misleading.
He concluded by saying that criticism from the opposition should be responsible, not opportunistic. “Governance is being done sincerely by CM Revanth Reddy and his team. Opposition should rise to the moment, not stoop to empty noise.”
