Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud on Saturday condemned what he called a false and baseless media report. This report targeted a woman IAS officer from Telangana. In a statement where the TPCC chief effectively slams media practices, he warned media houses against sensationalism and urged restraint in reporting on private lives.
Addressing reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, Goud said it was “painful and unacceptable” to circulate unverified reports about individuals holding public office. He pointed out that civil servants and ministers earn their positions through years of dedication and hard work. They should not be subjected to personal attacks.
TPCC questions BJP on religion, demands BRS white paper on jobs
Goud also took aim at the BJP, questioning its use of religion in political campaigns. “Does Lord Rama have a BJP membership?” he asked, criticising what he described as the politicisation of faith for electoral advantage.
Turning to the BRS, Goud demanded a white paper detailing how many jobs were created during former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s tenure. “We are ready to release a white paper on the jobs provided by the Congress government in the last two years,” he added.
He alleged that KCR had withdrawn to his farmhouse while BRS leaders K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao were under pressure due to issues involving MLC K. Kavitha. He further claimed that Kavitha was revealing corruption within the KCR family. The media, according to the TPCC chief slams recent reports involving these individuals in scandals.
Goud also highlighted recent electoral gains, stating that the Congress had secured 90 per cent of municipal seats. They also won 70 per cent of panchayat seats, in addition to victories in Cantonment and Jubilee Hills by-elections. “The people’s eagerness to elect the Congress is evident,” he said.
He criticised the BRS over its proposals to rename districts. Goud alleged that such moves were only aimed at distracting public attention. “Let them first explain what they have done for those districts,” he said, reflecting his criticism of the media strategies used by the opposition.
