Hyderabad: TPCC Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud launched a sharp attack on the BJP, accusing it of blocking the implementation of 42 percent reservations for BCs. He said the Congress leadership staged a protest in Delhi to demand the quota, yet the BJP refused to respond. The TPCC chief argued that the central government continued to obstruct BC rights despite repeated appeals.
Fresh criticism as Mahesh slams BJP
Mahesh said the BJP created a legal barrier by denying mandatory approval for 42 percent BC reservations. He added that the Congress made every possible effort to secure the quota and urged BC organisations to recognise the party’s commitment. The leadership travelled to Delhi and pressed the Centre for consent, he said. Even after that attempt, the BJP stalled the process, according to him.
He stated that Congress never stopped the procedure to grant 42 percent reservations. Mahesh said the party would push for the quota regardless of election timelines. He reaffirmed that Congress remained committed to BC welfare and would continue the fight until implementation.
The TPCC chief also said the BJP’s chances in local body elections were unrealistic. Villages lacked elected sarpanches, and governance suffered as a result, he added.
