Hyderabad: The Telangana transport department approved the development of TGSRTC model bus stations at 13 locations across the state. The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation planned the project to upgrade passenger facilities with modern infrastructure. The first phase covered bus stations in different districts across Telangana.
The proposed TGSRTC model bus stations will include commercial complexes, food courts and entertainment zones. Therefore, the facilities will offer services beyond those available at conventional bus stations.
TGSRTC also planned to develop multi-modal connectivity at the new facilities. As a result, passengers arriving by bus could conveniently connect to railway stations and other transport services.

The transport department granted approval for the project under the state government’s plan to modernise public transport infrastructure. TGSRTC Managing Director Y. Nagi Reddy was also involved in advancing the initiative.
Meanwhile, the corporation planned to use commercial areas within the bus station complexes for business activities. TGSRTC said these spaces would be offered to businesses on lease.
The project was expected to begin shortly. Moreover, the corporation aimed to provide passengers with more convenient facilities while improving connections between different modes of transport.
In the first phase, the TGSRTC model bus stations will come up at Nagarkurnool, Regonda, Huzurnagar, Kodad and Kodangal. The approved locations also included Kosgi, Maddur, Kesamudram, Husnabad and Mulugu. Madhira, Nalgonda and Kothagudem completed the list of 13 locations selected for the initial phase.
The project will combine passenger amenities, commercial facilities and transport connectivity within the proposed station complexes. In addition, the multi-modal plan will help passengers shift from bus services to railways and other transport options.
