Hyderabad: Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar on Thursday gave a final warning to Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari and Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, asking them to respond without delay to disqualification petitions.
The two MLAs won on BRS tickets but later joined the Congress, drawing defection charges. Of the ten MLAs facing similar petitions, eight have already filed replies, and hearings on their cases have ended. Srihari and Nagender, however, have not submitted affidavits.
Speaker acts after court sets deadline
Despite getting extra time earlier, both MLAs requested further extension. But with hearings on the other MLAs wrapping up, the Speaker ordered the remaining two to file their responses immediately.
The move comes after the Supreme Court pulled up the delay in handling disqualification pleas. The court recently gave a four-week deadline, prompting the Speaker to fast-track pending matters.
