Hyderabad: Telangana SIR scrutiny has identified 3.38 crore voters, while officials classified 73,39,234 Enumeration Forms as uncollectable, according to State Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy.
The ongoing Special Intensive Revision covered 3,38,26,448 voters across Telangana. Officials digitised 2,64,87,214 Enumeration Forms during the exercise.
The digitisation rate reached 78.30% of the identified electorate. Officials could not collect 73,39,234 forms, which account for 21.70% of the total.
The figures emerged as the electoral roll revision continued across the State. Election authorities said they would verify the details linked to the uncollectable forms.
The largest category involved voters who had permanently shifted to other places. Officials counted 45,18,961 voters in this category.
Another 11,25,546 voters were absent or untraceable during the scrutiny. The exercise also identified 9,22,230 voters as deceased.
Officials found 6,70,203 persons enrolled as voters at other locations. The remaining 1,02,294 forms fell under the ‘Others’ category.
The authorities said the Telangana SIR exercise aims to improve the accuracy and transparency of electoral rolls. They will retain the names of eligible voters.
Officials will scrutinise records involving shifted voters, deceased persons and voters enrolled elsewhere. They will follow the prescribed rules while examining each category.
Telangana SIR verification to determine voter status
The classification of a form as uncollectable does not by itself determine the final status of a voter. Election officials will verify the relevant records before taking further action.
Authorities will examine the details of voters who permanently shifted to other places. They will also verify records concerning absent or untraceable voters.
Similarly, officials will check the records of deceased voters and persons enrolled at other locations. The scrutiny will continue according to the prescribed procedure.
The data released by the CEO showed that officials had already digitised more than 2.64 crore Enumeration Forms. The uncollectable forms account for more than one-fifth of the identified electorate.
Election authorities said the Telangana SIR process would continue with verification of the classified records. They will determine the status of individual voters after completing the required scrutiny.
The classification of 73,39,234 Enumeration Forms is expected to remain a key issue as the electoral roll revision progresses across Telangana.
